On the leeward side of the island of Oahu is Ko Olina, home to gracious resorts, gorgeous golf courses and great ocean adventures.  There are four man-made lagoons in the Ko Olina area. The names of the lagoons are Kolola, Hanu, Nai'a, and Ulua.  Each lagoon is great for swimming because all of them are well protected from rough ocean waves by rock barriers. All of the lagoons have sandy beaches and picnic areas in addition to lifeguards and restroom facilities.

The big resorts in Ko Olina are the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa, the Disney Aulani, and the Ko Olina Beach Villas Resort. For visitors who desire a different type of accommodations, there are also weekly vacation houses that are available as rentals, and, of course, bed and breakfast establishments.

Many people also look at Ko Olina as a place to make their home. For those looking to stay in Ko Olina on a more permanent basis, Ko Olina has many of the same amenities available to tourists available to permanent residents.  Available amenities, of course, will depend upon the location of the purchased property, but Ko Olina gives all of its residents less noise and bustle than other island locations nearer Honolulu, in addition to wonderful, uncrowded beaches. Many visitors and resident enjoy swimming, boating, and snorkeling in the waters off Ko Olina.

Single homes, estates, condominiums, townhomes, and resort penthouses: all are possibilities in Ko Olina real estate.  Coconut Plantations is one Ko Olina community of cottages and villas. The residences’ designs mimic the style of early twentieth century plantation villages. The Coconut Plantations even has a general store and train station designed to blend in with the early 20th century vibe of the houses. However, it does also sit alongside the Ted Robinson 18 Hole Championship Golf course. Furthermore, the “indoor” amenities at The Coconut Plantations are just what would be expected in a high-end resort community.

Another Ko Olina development is the gated Kai Lani community, which bills itself as the only low-density oceanfront residential development at Ko Olina, with 116 two and three bedroom units. The Kai Lani community’s architectural style derives from traditional kama'aina beach houses. Ko Olina Fairways, Ko Olina Hillside Villas, Ko Olina Kai Golf Estates and Villas and Beach Villas at Ko Olina round out the other Ko Olina resort communities.

Every one of the residential areas nestles in with the surrounding resorts very nicely. It is common for communities to have recreations centers and pools.  Few are very far from the beach.  There are also properties available outside of the resort areas, which many may also find attractive. These include million dollar single-family homes as well as condominiums.

At the same time, Ko Olina is expanding, and many seem to want to get in on the beauty and lifestyle that real estate in Ko Olina offers. The Leeward Coast Ko Olina community is not only a great place to visit but also a great place to make a home.
