A little about Naalehu

Naalehu is a very small village found at the southern tip of the Big Island of Hawaii. Naalehu is the southernmost town in the United States, and has a population of only nine hundred and nineteen residents as of the last federal census. Naalehu literally means “the volcanic ashes”, a tribute to the volcanic origins of not only the land on which Naalehu was built, but to the entire Hawaiian Island Chain.
