A little about Kekaha
Kekaha is a rather small, formerly agricultural community found in the southern portion of the island of Kauai. Kekaha has a population of approximately three thousand two hundred residents and literally translates to mean “the place”. Kekaha was once home to the largest and most important sugar mill, the Kekaha Sugar Mill, on the island. Kekaha has excellent weather throughout the year, and is situated only a short drive away from the major attractions of the Garden Island. Kekaha was noted for being the location of Hawaii’s only train robbery, and boasts numerous spots for stunning ocean and mountain views.
Kekaha is the westernmost city in the entire nation, and boasts a wide variety of different cultural and ethnic heritages. Kekaha Beach Park is literally miles long, making it the longest white sand beach in the Aloha State. Some nearby attractions include the Waimea Canyon, the Waimea Canyon General School, the Waimea Canyon Plaza, and the Kokee Natural History Museum. Popular recreational activities in and around Kekaha include swimming, fishing, diving, boating, sunbathing, surfing, and snorkeling. Other communities in the area include Waimea, Hanapepe, Makaweli, Kalaheo, Lawai, Koloa, and Poipu.
