A little about Kapaa

Kapaa is one of the larger communities found on the largely rural island of Kauai. Kapaa has a population of approximately nine thousand five hundred residents, and is technically considered a census designated place of Kauai County. Kapaa, also spelled Tapaa, translates from Hawaiian to English to mean “the solid”. Kapaa is one of the few commercial, residential, and recreational centers on the Garden Island, and was once considered part of the district of Puna. Kapaa’s homes, condominiums, and apartments tend to offer excellent views of the ocean, the mountains, and a combination of both.

Kapaa’s history dates back thousands of years, although more recently the town was best known for its agricultural production of pineapple and sugar cane. Popular recreational activities in Kapaa include swimming, fishing, snorkeling, boating, surfing, sunbathing, diving, and just relaxing. Kapaa offers great weather throughout the year, as well as the largest outdoor shopping center on the island, Coconut Grove.
