A little about Honomu
Honomu is a charming village found along the Hilo-Hamakua Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. Honomu has a population of only five hundred and forty residents, making it simultaneously one of the smallest and most enjoyable communities on the island. Honomu is found right by Akaka Falls State Park, one of the most widely recognized and popular tourist destinations in the entire Connecticut-sized island. Akaka Falls plummets more than four hundred feet amongst beautiful tropical scenery, trees, and wildlife.
Honomu is a highly historic community, with many of the remaining structures evoking memories of plantations, sugar cane, and other times past. Honomu offers stunning tropical views and easy access to the ocean. As a part of the Hamakua Coast, Honomu is relatively close to the other communities in the region, including the county seat of Hilo, which offers everything from private and public schools to restaurants and fast food joints to boutiques, shopping centers, and museums.
